Classify the failure before recovering
Separate transport interruption, authentication rejection, authorization denial, invalid request or response, content validation failure, and user cancellation. Record what the application actually observed: whether response delivery began, whether any content was shown, and which sanitized error category was returned. A generic “generation failed” message is not enough to justify replaying a request.
For a hypothetical case where a connection drops after text appears, mark the result as incomplete and make that state visible. Do not silently present the partial text as a finished answer. If the failure instead indicates rejected credentials, inspect server-side credential injection and access scope; repeating the same request is unlikely to correct a configuration problem. Keep raw secrets and sensitive request content out of diagnostic records.
Isolate credentials and constrain retries
Keep service credentials in controlled server-side configuration, separated by environment and responsibility. Send the browser only the data needed for its current interaction. Review application logs, tracing, and crash reports for authorization headers, credential values, and user-submitted secrets. If a credential may have been exposed, follow the organization’s revocation and rotation process, then investigate how the exposure occurred.
Define retry eligibility by failure category. Use a bounded retry policy with backoff for failures that your own checks establish as transient. Do not automatically replay an operation after partial output if doing so could duplicate a side effect, disclose additional content, or confuse the user about which response is authoritative. For a hypothetical tool action that changes account state, require explicit application-level safeguards before any retry. NexoToken’s AI model API access can be used where model requests are part of the application; consult the current main platform documentation for supported integration and credential details rather than assuming an endpoint or behavior.
Treat streamed content as untrusted
Text received in a stream can contain instructions that try to override application policy, request secrets, or induce tool use. Treat that text as data to display and evaluate, not as authority to grant permissions or modify trusted instructions. If the application consumes structured output, validate its format, required fields, and allowed values before acting. On validation failure, stop the dependent action and retain only sanitized diagnostics.
Enforce tool permissions in application code, independently of what the text requests. Check the authenticated user’s authorization, the allowed tool set, and parameter bounds before execution. In a hypothetical example, streamed text asks to retrieve another user’s records: deny the request unless the application’s existing authorization rules explicitly permit that access. Redact sensitive fields before forwarding text to tools or support logs, and verify that the redaction step cannot be bypassed by an alternate error path.
Check recovery and keep evidence
Create checks in a local or controlled environment for interrupted delivery, rejected credentials, malformed responses, user cancellation, and failure after partial content has been displayed. For each case, define the expected user-visible state, whether partial content is retained, whether retry is allowed, and which fields must be removed from diagnostic records. Run the checks yourself and record actual outcomes and uncovered cases; do not infer successful recovery merely because the interface remains responsive.
When the failure category is ambiguous, disable automatic recovery for that path and show a concise message that does not expose internal details. Use the account platform’s usage history to reconcile relevant request and usage records where applicable. Treat that history and application logs as separate evidence sources: neither alone establishes the complete cause of a stream failure. Document the criteria your team uses to reopen retries after correcting the underlying condition.
